Position Overview

The Software Developer is charged with the design, building, and maintenance of software solutions for Verda. They will work with IT leadership, business subject matter experts, and business data owners across the organization to formulate and deliver the best custom software solutions targeting automation, efficiency, and integration. This role will document and train Verda users on the custom software operations and functionality, taking responsibility for delivery of the software to the business teams.    

 

This role reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will work closely with other executive leadership including Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), and other executive leadership.

 

Job Description

  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain custom software applications, interfaces, databases, and systems.
  • Assist in management of MS Azure environment in relation to SQL databases, user management, and overall custom software performance.
  • Write clean, efficient, and scalable code using programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, HTML5, and MS SQL.
  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts and data owners, and the IT team to define project requirements, design, and approach.
  • Perform software testing and validation to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
  • Implement best practices in software development, including version control (Git), Agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience with MS SQL and common programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, and HTML5.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, CI/CD and version control in cloud platforms such as MS Azure or AWS.
  • Experience with full stack development from UX/UI to application to database.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for software development
  • Experience within the healthcare industry or health plans is preferred

Professional Competencies

  • 3+ years’ experience with building custom software including back-end database, application layer, and user interface.
  • 3+ years’ experience with building and/or maintaining custom databases with SPROCS, SSIS packages, and other procedures.
  • Some experience with building or maintaining data extract, interface, and other data interchange processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of requirements, information, and specifications.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, promote teamwork and fact-based decision making
  • Critical listening, problem solving, and professional communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up culture with resiliency in a changing environment

Supervisory Responsibilities. This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will be required to perform as a team leader and act as a backup for the team’s manager.

  • Full-time onsite (100% in office)
  • Hours of operations: 9am – 6pm
  • Standard business hours Monday to Friday/weekends as needed
